without trying to making it into a thing in its own right, there is a bit of a coincidence that is appearing for some of our houndstooth artists. following dylan richards chrysalis-like metamorphosis into house of black lanterns, alec storey is the latest artist to shift phase and re-christen his output after signing to our label, progressing from the al tourettes moniker in favour of the more becoming, second storey. whilst his new name might be in homage to the musical path set forth for him by his father, the four-track margosa heights ep sounds very little like anything you have heard from the bristol based producer before.

i-robots is an alias of opilec music boss gianluca pandullo, a long time dj and producer with a penchant for classic techno and electro cosmic disco. for his next project in the esteemed i-robots reconstructions concept series the italian re-edits some classic material, all with the permission of the original artists. the tracks in question are derrick mays hugely influential *emanon* cut, recorded under his rhythim is rhythim alias and originally released in the 1990s on his own seminal transmat records label – one of the most important imprints in the early days of techno alongside kms and metroplex. the second track – which was first released on metroplex, the label juan atkins founded in 1985 and then re-released and reworked on sound vision - is *game one* produced by the legendary juan atkins and orlando voorn as infiniti. the latter of these pair has already released a number of times on the opilec music label.

following some very well received releases on international feel & rogue cat, dean meredith & ben shentons mind fair deliver their best work yet on the mighty golf channel. four superb tracks of loosely assembled and live workouts, ranging from psych-funk, to the superb pulsing, european jam of wrong wire to more avant-garde explorations. beautifully fusing vintage synths, live instrumentation and an expert ear for dynamic arrangements - this is another gc classic!

lil jabba isnt like the rest of them. while they are busy joining the dots between house and techno or whatever is safe right now, he is throwing paint all over the page. he is not american, but he is affiliated with chicagos teklife crew (dj spinn, dj rashad, etc.) and divides his time between baltimore and brooklyn, exhibiting his visual art, riding around with his bike gang and making some of the most hypnotic juke and footwork you will ever hear. local action have been figuring out a release with him for over a year - eventually an ep wasnt enough, and they persuaded him to make it a full-length album, scales. some of scales has already seen the light of day through youtube or limited cassette releases, some of it is unheard. some tracks sound cleaner than others, that is because they are newer. that is how these things work. what is consistent throughout scales is the quality: across 12 tracks, jabba flips, twists and inverts the footwork template with endless layers of samples, gurgled vocal tags, jazz licks and whatever else he feels like. these arent trax, they are tapestries.

the mysterious duo strangers in heaven strike back on souvenir! after their first highly acclaimed release last year and their remix of souvenir bosses, tiefschwarz, the boys return with a strong two tracker. first track, set me free, is a deep groover which features jonny cruzs incredibly melodic voice. the same track gets a decidedly deeper once over from none other than, eric volta (ellum, visionquest). on the flip, the future is a miami bass vs. techno tune with some real old school house feeling injected into it, featuring the unmistakable voice of the wondrous navid izadi(wolf+lamb, soulclap).

oskar offermann and his frequent collaborator and label mate edward are two of the brightest rising stars in contemporary deep house music. as head of the esteemed white imprint, offermann has an envious catalog spread across his own label, aim, and japans storied mule musiq, edward has mostly confined his releases to white apart from a single drop on the mysterious giegling, and some outstanding remixes on other powerhouse labels. since their appearance in 2007, the pair of berliners has only one collaboration record between them in spite of a close association, large individual discographies, and frequent pairings behind the decks. it is thus with great ceremony that thema announces their north american vinyl debut with the four-track ep, verses.

hot on the heels of the release of neville watsons songs to elevate pure hearts album, crme organization releases a three track ep of remixes from the longplayer. drawing on diverse names, each of the remixers transforms their given track into something quite different from the original. the first is by watsons frequent collaborator, bulgarian producer and live specialist kink. he tackles songs to elevate pure hearts and laces it up with some lazy old rave breakbeats and plenty of lucid synth and melody pattern before fast rising dixon avenue basement jams associate marquis hawkes takes on against the tide . he imbues it with what is fast become a trademark sonic weirdness, with wrought iron synth bars interlocking with molten synth lines and a slow, purposeful and predatory mood. finally, american moon b turns in a trippy outsider house version of son of house with off kilter claps, see-sawing synths and organic drums.

a dream team if ever there was one, kid fonque and rising star dj whisky have crafted a seductive, richly-textured composition which songbird zaki ibrahim has taken to sublime heights. be is a afro-tinged, drum-driven deep house number that is guaranteed to inspire some arm-raising, hip swaying dancefloor action. showcasing the enthralling vocals that only she is capable of - zakis intimate conversation draws you into a hypnotic realm of rhythm before expanding into a breathtaking ballad.

third lockertmatick with soe pure techno from dresden, germany. uncompromissing and effective, these guys deliver some solid tracks that sound timeless. limited to 250 copies.

fresh new uk label with two killer tracks that will turn some heads. amazing piece of house music that is working like madd without using the standard cliches. a accomplishment by this young producer neinzer in these days of looking back! opening with a funked up track that goes somewhere between things we know from shake and recloose but comparing it to others isnt doing the track any justice. flip side cranks the tempo up and gives a mad techno piece with some sample trickery. best start a label could wish!

cavaan is the alter ego of a rather well known berlin producer and his fellow from milan. the duo debuts with their very much loved project. they feature a studio-recorded wonderful vocal on this hypnotically modern percussive house affair titled black snow. the original track grooves on some free swinging retro percussions and beats from the 80s machinery and a softly moving house-beat making this a very subtle killer for any dancefloor. while the vocals carry the track as light as a feather it is after the breakdown that things get really musical - you will hear yourself while listening the melodies and sequences. for the remixes turdjr has aligned a high-quality and diverse array of a current top producer. one of heidelbergs coolest kids on the block, lopazz knows that every track gets better with a lot of handmade music-and he sure is right in his interpretation of black snow. last not least i is under on the flip which is one of these tracks that sucks the listener in so deep that there is simply no escape: repetitive yet constantly changing and constantly grooving while remaining very pure! this release is filled with tracks that will long echo on the dancefloor!

lewie day - aka tornado wallace - ups the meteorological ante and turns in some laser-guided, ethno-hypno, eco-lectro jams for the eighth beats in space records release. the three tracks of tornado wallaces desperate pleasures ep sound like the work of a comfortable yet adventurous producer who isnt afraid to take a simple yet exotic theme and stride to the other side of the jungle.

revivra is back on gamm with two seriously well produced re-edits (or remixes?) on the soulful boogie tip. just like last time this is just not some quick 5 min fixes but hand crafted reworks that takes the original tracks to the next level with loads of added live elements. the a-sides take on midways set it out is so good it almost makes the original sounds like the remix. with a beautiful live string intro it explodes into a proper boogie winner that easily could have been produced by any of the big producers from late 70s. on the flip revivra goes back to his deep love for marvin with +11 min excursion of mercy mercy me. epic is an understatement!

the next sintope vinyl series release comes from damien roussel also known as the mekanism. it is a project founded in paris in the summer of 2011. his raw deep house sound saw releases with some of the world s finest electronic labels like need want, noir, electronique and under the shade.
small things ep includes two original tracks and two remixes - one signed by kolombo who brings up his mixture of electronic house and disco vibes and another one by ntfo & rhadow, a dancefloor oriented track that keeps a great balance between melody and groove.
